Hubert Horatio Humphrey (born May 31, 1953) is an American politician who served as the President of the United States United States Senator from Superior, Senate Majority Whip, and Chief of Staff to Governor Daniel Lorenzo. Humphrey is a member of the Social Democratic Party, and an ally of the Progressive Party.

Humphrey was born in Minneapolis in 1953. His parents are Hubert Humphery Sr., a high school educator, and Karolina Humphrey (born Novakova), a baker. His mother is an immigrant from Czechoslovakia, from where her family escaped after the communist coup in 1948. They settled in New York, where Humphrey often visited them during his youth. His other grandparents own a farm in Southern Iowa and Humphrey spent large parts of his summer vacations there when he was young. His started getting involved in politics from 1968, when he was a volunteer for the Democratic party's campaigns that year. Between 1971 and 1975, he studied Law, History, and Political Science at Columbia University in New York. He worked at a law firm for a few months between 1975-76, but left the job and instead started working as a public defendant.

Early actions[edit | hide | edit source]

Humphrey's first campaign was in 1973, when he unsucessfully ran for Minneapolis City Council. After the Democratic Party collapsed in 1984, he joined the Social Democratic Party, of which he has been an affiliated non-member until then. In the 1984 election, he ran for the United States Senate from his home state of Superior. He won the contest, defeating Independent candidate Ava Crosslin and New Republican nominee Joe Manchin.

In 1985, Humphrey was elected to the Social Democratic Party's board.

U.S. Senate[edit | hide | edit source]

Following his election to the Senate, he ran for the Senate Majority Whip, winning the race. He has also been chosen by Governor Daniel Lorenzo of Albany to be his Chief of Staff. During the 99th Congress, he wrote and cowrote multiple bills, out of which four - The Gun Licensing Act, The Updated Education Act, The Fair Labor Standards Act and the Clinton-Humphrey Apartheid Punishment Act - have passed into law.

Albany Chief of Staff[edit | hide | edit source]

Governor Daniel Lorenzo of Albany nominated Humphrey to be his Chief of Staff. In this position, Humphrey helped Governor Lorenzo deal with the Boston Water Crisis. He served in the office until 1987, when he was suceeded by Boss Tweed during Governor Lorenzo's cabinet restructuring. However, he still remained serving in the cabinet as the Junior Advisor.

Superior Secretary of Labor[edit | hide | edit source]

After Secretary IcedCream stepped down, Humphrey was selected by Governor Storm Kennedy to be Superior's Secretary of Labor.

Personal life[edit | hide | edit source]

In 1986, he married Representative Alejandra Grenwich-Humphrey.

In 1976, Humphrey enlisted in the Superior National Guard. As of January 1987, he is still serving.
